Monday came without a word from the temp agency. Bec called them in the morning and was told it looked to be a slow week. Even though she could use the money, she'd be all riht for more than a week without income and she looked forward to the free time. Lucy had already left for her job: a receptionist position in one of the high rises in Seattle. Bec sat at the kitchen table, pushing cereal around with her spoon, a tiny grin askew on her face. The silence was delicious. Living with her sister into adulthood hadn't completely destroyed her affection for Lucy, but there were times when it felt buried-- deeply. Bec drained the last of the cereal milk from her bowl and put the dish and spoon into the sink. She walked back into her bedroom and turned on the radio on her desk. "...this morning. And we also have special guest Jimmy Joe on in fifteen minutes!" She smacked the power button on the radio in horror. That had not been NPR. Which meant that Lucy had been using her radio. Lucy had her own radio. Why would she need Bec's? If she needed it, why couldn't she just ask first? Why did she have to invade Bec's room and use her stuff like it was communal property? Scowling, Bec left the radio off and sat down at the desk, switching her monitor and computer on.
