About All Things White and Circular

The title of this site I drew from Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale. I wish I could quote the line that uses that phrase, but alas, my copy of the book is hiding somewhere in a shed in Concrete, WA, USA. Someday I'll get it back.

The purpose of this site is to develop some seriously atrophied writing skills. It's my hope to eventually use this space to work through full on writing projects for wonderful things like poems and short stories and maybe even (gasp!) a novel if I ever get that brave. At the moment I'm focusing on writing practice and honing my skills again.

About Andrea Roceal James

I have several biographical statements already existing on the web, and here is yet another one.

I have been reading avariciously since age five or six. I believe my my first book was Hop on Pop by the inimitable Dr. Seuss. My first "Grown Up" book was Tolkien's The Hobbit which I found and read myself before my mom could read it aloud to me. I kept going from there.

Somehow after all this reading I got it into my head that I could make stories of one kind or another of my own. I started with poetry but am now attempting to expand my repetoir somewhat.

I am a twenty-something-or other living as a permanent resident of Sydney, Australia. I love it here. I am originally from California, and then became a long-term resident of Washington state after I graduated from high school. I loved it there, too, but the weather got me down.

I consider myself a creative geek. My blog The Geek Icon explores my love of things computational and technological, more or less. I have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and I work as one of 80 kermillion other web developers.
