Still Behind on Word Count

Well, a pitiful 540 words today. I think I'm pinpointing my block. The Don had a mission, and his mission was following the chivalric code as laid out in the knightly romances he read. In my medieval lit class the thing that was underscored was this idea of an examplar that you followed as closely as you could throughout your life. We've got my main character's exemplar: the heroine of the fantasy books she reads. But what's the template of behavior to follow? Except for some vague notions of bravery, fighting evil, blah blah blah, I don't have a clear idea of what her code of behavior should be. Maybe I'll just work on building up more description and background and something will come to me.

Checking the forums at NaNoWriMo.org was discouraging-- everyone seems to be in the thousands already! And Mr Wiggins comes home tomorrow from the US. Bound to be a major distraction. How will I catch up? I just have to keep chipping away at it I guess.
