Dear Toho

Hello, my name is Andrea. I have been a big fan of Godzilla since I first saw the screaming radioactive monster stomping around on my television. I was also fortunate enough to recently view Godzilla 2000 on the big screen, the first time I've seen such wonder in all its technicolor (um, I mean, Tohoscope) glory. I've grown up with Godzilla stomping Ghidra, Rodan, and even Mechagodzilla. I've watched in amazement as Mothra has swept the sky with his mighty wings, and even love the less mighty but commendable Gamera.

Someday I would even like to go to Monster Island.

As you can see, I'm a relatively devoted fan of the Toho franchise. But currently I am at a complete loss about some of your recent behavior. Your lawyers have sent a letter to some guy who runs a web site called Davezilla. I have heard of this web site before, but honestly have not read it a whole lot. I have never seen any mention of Godzilla there until recently, when he posted the letter from Seyfarth Shaw about how he was using the word Godzilla and had a lizard-like image. What I am confused about is that your letter to Davezilla implies that, because you think he is infringing on the "Godzilla" trademark, I maybe confused by going to his site, and think that he has some real association with both Toho and Godzilla. I also know the difference between a black cartoon dragon and a glorious, giant green radioactive lizard that shoots lightning bolts and glows.

Honestly, Toho, I don't see how you could consider such a loyal fan to be so stupid. I know the difference between real Godzilla and pretend Godzilla. And Godzilla knows, too. Just think, if this Dave person was really trying to ride Godzilla's coattails to fame, Godzilla would know, and Godzilla would stomp Dave's ass real good. Because Godzilla is cool like that.

I will still watch your films, because I love Godzilla so. But perhaps now I will only watch bootleg dubs from Hong Kong in protest, because I can't support such an outright abuse of power.

Sincerely,
ARJ
