Forgive Me, It's Been a Long Week
My compatriots and I have become part of the New Roman Empire. All hail Ceasar Georgeus! The scary thought for me, sparked from my one semester of larnin' about the fall of Rome, is the (OK, maybe slightly tenuous) parallel between the transformation from the Republic to the Empire, and my country's erosions of democracy and freedom.
But let's not worry about it too much, as long as we can still be consumers. Now that I have consumed so many things with Marek, I feel so full that I can hardly feel that empty spot in my soul anymore.
Watched Amélie last night. Made me cry at the end. I am becoming such a sap in my old age. I really like those Jean-Pierre Jeunet flicks, yes. Even Alien: Resurrection, as goofy as it was!
