Mixed Feelings

Kindly Mr Parcero of Anthurian saw fit to ask me some questions. Here are my answers. Gee, whiz, I'm starting to suspect people find me interesting. WTF? It's definitely some kind of fluke.

And yet, I get a random email from a coworker of my dad's in Stehekin, WA:

Having little to do in a remote location, your website was an interesting sojourn. If you don't mind we might check back from time to time.

Despite all the praise, ARJLog is going into temporary hibernation (emphasis on the temporary!). "Why?" you might ask (you being one of the six people including my dad's coworker who read this blog). Well, here's a list:

  1. I really really really want to get my new blogging engine up and running. Writing blog entries takes away time from that, and I'm also changing the database structure that holds the journal entries, so not adding new entries makes it easier to test out and build the new engine.
  2. I want to refocus my creative writing energies on more formal methods of writing. My poetry is making a struggling comeback. I want to focus on that and short stories. I want to focus on this insane idea/desire to be published in the paper world.
  3. As things stand, it looks like my plans are working out to head to Sydney in December. My current employers (I hope I don't jinx myself) even have expressed vocal willingness to let me telecommute from Sydney for a while. I'm emotionally and mentally ready to go, ready for a new chapter. But that also means I have a heck of a lot to get physically ready for the move over the next couple months. Anybody want to buy a used futon? Or 90% of the rest of my worldly belongings?

The following are NOT reasons for my hiatus:

  1. I'm sick/bored of blogging/blogger hype
  2. I feel like I have nothing to say
  3. I feel like I've been receiving criticism for things I do say

It's more of a rest/ regroup/ refocus kinda thing. I'll probably still add the occasional post to either Blog Sisters or mediAgora as I see fit.

For those of my relatives and friends who check in here just to see how I'm doing and what's going on in my life, and are maybe feeling disappointment right now: remember, there's always email or cellphone. (Yes, that email link will really text message me. Whether or not I will call you back depends on whether I remembered to turn my phone on and/or check it.) :-)
