My First "Published" Poem (age 12)
Digging through old school things I found De Anza Middle School's fine publication for the school year of 1989-1990. In it:

The ocean is a lady,
wearing a turquoise dress
and seaweed embroidery.When she walks,
her dress ripples,
the lace ruffles and flutters
and the embroidery sways back and forth.When she is angry,
she runs.
Her dress bounces wildly,
her embroidery breaks.She stops to fix it,
so her dress stops bouncing.All is calm.
