One project finishes, and another begins. It's the circle of knitting.

I'm not usually one to brag about my knitting. Well, except for when I made socks without reading a pattern. And, also, now. But seriously, all the women at work were so impressed with that dog jumper I made, and I pshawed them all the way. It's only when I have an anonymous audience on the web that my arrogance gets to come out to play. Hopefully it's not too overbearing.

I am just really proud of this:

That is a gauge swatch of the merino handspun I just finished. I tried out two different slipped stitch patterns, because I liked them both in the book. The top one is winning out at the moment, partly because I like how it looks on this yarn, and also because it's easier. I like the subtlety of the bottom one, but it's a little more fiddly, and I'm not sure I like the purl-facing background for a pair of fingerless gloves.

I'm also pretty happy with the finished "Wild Kat" socks. However, they turned out a bit longer than I originally thought (my aim was for size 7-1/2 feet and I could actually fit them on my feet). I'm going to send them on to their intended recipient, with the stipulation that I'm happy to shorten them a bit if needed.
